Double Track Snow Plow No. CP 400823
This Double Track Snow Plow was built in 1914. The double track snow plow would push the snow and ice to one side of the rails going in one direction. This resulted in all of the snow accumulating on one side of the track. Then it would come back in the opposite direction in order to further clear snow and ice off the other side of the track clearing it from the railway completely in order to prevent any obstructions for passing trains. Double track plows are no longer in use, as single track plows accompanied by a Jordan Spreader allow for both tracks to be cleared at once (no return trip needed!), rendering the double-track plow obsolete.
